Deptt. of CSE & IT conducted Expert Lecture on operating system
Department of CSE& IT, BFCET organized a guest Lecture for the students of IT 4thsem, Dr. Manish Jindal Associate Professor in Regional Center, Punjab University Mukktsar, came to give expert Lecture on operating system on 9 jan,2012.Er.Manish Goyal officiating Principal, Er. Pardeep mittal, Head, Deptt. of CSE welcomed him. Dr. manish Jindal started with the introduction of the topic and told the students that how the booting process completes. He discussed various Deadlock avoidance, prevention and detection techniques.
Infosys Visit Details
Department of Information Technology organized an industrial visit for the students of B.Tech(IT). This industrial trip was organized to give the practical exposure to the students and the latest advancements in the IT industry. This visit was done in Infosys Technologies Limited, Chandigarh. This made the students aware of the latest partial projects and the working in the professional environment. Expert lecture on relevance of IT and Project Think Approach followed by a group discussion was delivered for the students. Students were accomplished by Er. Pardeep Mittal(HOD CSE/IT), Er. Amandeep Singh(Lect.), Er. Natasha Sharma(Lect.), Er. Tarandeep Singh(Inst.) of Baba farid college of engineering and Technology.
HIT Society celebrates Baisakhi as “ETC 11” on April 19,2011.
Baba Farid College of Engineering & Technology celebrated BISAKHI on 19th APRIL 2011 as ETC’11. The chief guest of the day was Mr.Gurmeet singh dhaliwal, Managing Director, Baba farid group of institutes, Bathinda . Miss kuljit kaur boparai , Lect, applied science deptt. welcomed the guests and informed them about the history of Baba Farid Group of Institutions. Mr. Harpal Singh Deputy director, facility management BFGI,Bathinda inaugurated ETC’11 by lighting up the candle . Then Ms. Kujlit kaur, introduced the guests with all the inter departmental technical events which were conducted by dept, of INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY. Mr. Manish Goyal, head of deptt,Mechanical engineering, Baba farid enginnering technology, bathinda, formally welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries on the auspicious occasion and introduced him to the background of Baba Farid Vidyak Society & different types of activities being carried out for the development of students and society at large.
Mr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Managing Director, Baba farid group of institutes, Bathinda, in his address appreciated the efforts made by students to celebrate Bisakhi. He spoke at length about the contribution of Engineers in different fields like governance and IT industry. In his address he stressed upon awareness towards choosing their carrier path and asked them to work hard with dedication and to be practically strong in their field.
A student of B.Tech (IT) 4th semester, Mr. Jaspreet Singh gave presentation on the topic Bisakhi.
As this was a function conducted by the students of HIT society, the student body of IT deptt. a technical quiz was conducted which contained the informative questions about the IT industry and IT history.
4 different technical competitive events were organized one day before that is on 18th april 2011 named Mech Plex(movie making), LAN gaming, poster making, and IT quiz. A total of 90 students of different branches of Engineering College participated in these events.
Girls of IT 6th sem added glory to the function by performing gidha, the traditional folk dance of Punjab.
Mr. Gurpreet Singh Mann, Head, deptt of IT , Baba Farid College of Engineering & Technology, while delivering vote of thanks. He thanked Mr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Managing Director, Baba farid group of institutes, Bathinda, for gracing the occasion by sparing his valuable time and for sharing his views with the students. He also thanked all the principals of various colleges and the centalised Head for being amongst the engineering students on Bisakhi celebration. At the end all enjoyed the closing of function with bhangra performed by the boys of IT deptt. the folk dance of Punjab.
Deptt. Of IT Organized Industrial Visit for the students of IT 6th & IT 4th Sem
Department of Information Technology organized an industrial visit for the students of IT 4th and 6th sem. This industrial trip was organized to give the practical exposure to the students and the latest advancements in the IT industry. This visit was done in SEASIA CONSULTING, Mohali. This made the students aware of the latest partial projects and the working in the professional environment. Further to make the students fresh and burden free from the regular studies this industrial visit was extended as a trip to Mcleod Ganj. Students were accomplished by Mr. sumit arora, Mr. Amandeep singh, and Ms. Gagagnjot kaur (Lect) Baba farid engineering college.
Department of CSE & IT organized 2 day workshop on ETHICAL HACKING
Baba Farid College of Engg. & Technology, organized a 2 day workshop on the topic of "Ethical Hacking" on 10-11 September 2010. More than 70 students of BFCET and other neighbouring Engg institutions attended the workshop. Ms. Sukhpreet Kaur, Head Deptt. of CSE, inaugurated the workshop and informed students about the significance of the workshop. The workshop was organized with the coordination of Morph Edutech, an organization made up of former IITians , which routinely organizes different types of workshops, seminars and summer camps on advanced topics related to various engineering topics like robotics, hacking, nanotechnology etc in some select institutes. Network security is a burning issue and the students must be aware of the ways to safely use the internet for the communication, moreover this area has great potential for jobs in IT sector because of the growing use of internet and intranet by high profile institutions, universities, banks and all corporate sector , said, Dr. Jasbir S. Hundal, Director Principal, Baba Farid College of Engg. & Technology, while expressing his views on the workshop. He promised the students that workshops of this kind will also be organized in future to introduce them to the latest technologies of the different engineering fields. Mr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Managing director, Baba Farid Group of Institutions, while expressing his satisfaction on the conduct of the workshop said that knowledge of latest trends of the market is a must for the students to survive in this competitive world. These kind of workshops and seminars familiarize the students with new technologies. He ensured that Baba Farid Group of Institutions will continue to conduct these type activities that enrich the personality of students and faculty alike. Er Gurveen Kaur, Head Deptt of IT delivered vote of thanks on the occasion and thanked Mr. Girdhar and college management for their whole hearted support in the conduct of the workshop.
Department of CSE & IT organized workshop on LINUX
Baba Farid College of Engg. & Technology, organized a 2 day workshop on "LINUX" on 21-22 September 2010. Students of CSE & IT dept of BFCET attended the workshop. Ms. Sukhpreet Kaur, Head Deptt. of CSE & Ms. Gurveen K. Sandhu, Head Deptt. IT organized the workshop and informed students about the importance of workshop. This workshop becomes a success with combined effort of HCL people. Mr. Karan provided his valuable knowledge to the student. LINUX is the latest technology in the world of Computer. Dr. Jasbir S. Hundal, Director Principal, Baba Farid College of Engg. & Technology, while expressing his views on the workshop said that it is the efficient effort for enlightening the students with the modern technology. He promised the students that workshops of this kind will also be organized in future to introduce them to the latest technologies of the different engineering fields.
Inaugural Function of HIT and Inter-departmental Debate Competition
Hegemony of Information Technology(HIT) society organized inaugural function in seminar hall in which main events were inter-departmental debate, Ad-Mad Show, Fashion Show and cultural events. The chief guest of inaugural function of HIT Society was Er.Vinod Parkash, GM BSNL, Bathinda.
In inter-departmental debate, Manish Kumar(ECE 3rd Sem) got first position, Neeraj Singla(CSE 3rd Sem) got second position and Dimple(IT 1st Sem) got third position. In Ad-Mad Show, ECE Team 2 including Ramandeep Kaur, Sukhdeep, Ved Varth & Swapnil got first position, ECE Team 1 including Mandeep Kaur, Rajveer Kaur, Ankush Goyal & Monis Raza got second position and IT Team including Karan Raheja, Maninder Singh & Lovepreet Singh got third position.
In the end, Chief guest Er. Vinod Parkash, S.Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal (MD, BFIH&FS), Dr.J.S.Hundal (Director-Principal) and Er.Pardeep Mittal(HOD IT) gave away the prizes to the winners.
Educational Tour to Science City
A two-day educational tour was planned by our society for students of IT 1st yr and IT 2nd yr which was approved by Dr.J.S.Hundal, Director-Principal BFCET. This tour was supervised by Er.Pardeep Mittal(AP cum HOD(IT)) and Er. Harleen Kaur(Lecturer IT & Faculty Incharge HIT). Our students visited Science City where they learnt many things related to Information Technology like Virtual Reality, WWW, ATM networks, simulation systems, laser applications, etc. The new things learnt by students enhanced their knowledge.
In the evening, students visited Jallianwala Bagh and then Golden Temple. The students paid obeisance to God at Golden Temple and stayed there in Guest House. Our students also visited Sultanpur Lodhi, Tarantaran Sahib and Gurudwara Nanaksar Harike Pattan. |
