Software Programming

SP(Software Programming) lab is put into use for teaching the students about various translators like compilers, assemblers , macro processors etc. and editors with their development leading to a better understanding of C and C++. Lab is equipped with 36 pcs with latest hardware configuration and all required softwares(like C++, Windows XP and Microsoft Office).

Fundamentals of Computer Programming & Information Technology

The FCPIT Lab is common for all first year branches of engineering with every student having accessibility at any time. Lab consist of HCL PCs with latest software which are required for first year students i.e. Turbo C++, MS-Office, Operating System (Windows XP). Besides Lab specific equipments, the lab is equipped with common facilities also. These include 3 Laser printers and LCD projectors. The lab provides 24 Hr internet facility to students as it consist of 10 MBPS leased line for interne.

Deptt. of CSE & IT conducted Expert Lecture on operating system

Department of CSE& IT, BFCET organized a guest Lecture for the students of IT 4thsem, Dr. Manish Jindal Associate Professor in Regional Center, Punjab University Mukktsar, came to give expert Lecture on operating system on 9 jan,2012.Er.Manish Goyal officiating Principal, Er. Pardeep mittal, Head, Deptt. of CSE welcomed him. Dr. manish Jindal started with the introduction of the topic and told the students that how the booting process completes. He discussed various Deadlock avoidance, prevention and detection techniques.

Deptt. of CSE & IT conducted Expert Lecture on Software Testing

Department of CSE& IT, BFCET organized a guest Lecture for the students of CSE 6thsem, Er. Simpel Jindal Assistant Professor in Yadavindra College of Engineering, Talwandi Sabo, came to give expert Lecture on S/W Testing on 1st April 2011. Er. SukhpreetKaur, Head, Deptt. of CSE welcomed her. Er. Simpel Jindal started with the introduction of the topic and told the students that software testing is a new developing area for the jobs. She discussed various SoftwareTesting techniques and gave brief overview on various aspects on Software testing. She said Software testing form an important & essential process without which the software development process is incomplete.

All the students of CSE 6thsem appreciated the expert lecture and were grateful to Er. Simple Jindal for giving them such useful information. Department of CSE is constantly putting efforts to import more & useful knowledge to the students through expert lecture of various renowned personalities in the field of Computer science and Engineering.

FACES student body of Department of CSE celebrated National Engineers' Day as "MindSpark 10" and International Ozone Layer Preservation Day

Baba Farid College of Engineering & Technology celebrated 43rd National Engineer’s Day and International Day for Ozone Layer Preservation on 15th September 2010 as MINDSPARK’10. The chief guest of the day was Er. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Bathinda who himself is an Electronics Engineering graduate from PEC, Chandigarh. Ms. Amandeep Kaur Sarao, Lect, CSE deptt. welcomed the guests and informed them about the history of Baba Farid Group of Institutions. Er. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Bathinda inaugurated MINDSPARK’10 by lighting up the candle followed by formal launch of the student body of Deptt. of CSE, Forum for Advancement of Computer Engineering Students, FACES. Then Ms. Sukhpreet Kaur, Head, Deptt. of CSE introduced the guests to the student body and emphasized upon the need of student forums for overall development of students. Mr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Managing Director, Baba Farid Group of Institutions formally welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries on the auspicious occasion and introduced him to the background of Baba Farid Vidyak Society & different types of activities being carried out by Baba Farid Group of Institutions for the development of students and society at large. He spoke about different deptts. in the group and their contribution.

Er. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Bathinda, in his address appreciated the efforts made by students to celebrate the National Engineer’s Day and International Ozone Layer Preservation Day. He spoke at length about the contribution of Engineers in different fields like e-governance that brings about transparency in administration, be it government or private. In his address he stressed upon the need of discipline in the student life and asked them to work hard with dedication and to be an asset for which ever organization they work for.

A student of B.Tech (CSE) 5th semester, Ms. Navneet Gill gave presentation on the topic of National Engineers’ Day and dwelled upon the biography and contribution of Bharat Ratan Er. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya whose birth day is celebrated as National Engineers’ Day. Ms. Armaan Jaura, B.Tech (CSE) 3rd Sem spoke about causes of ozone depletion and methods needed to be undertaken to preserve the same. Students explained in detail about the background, need and importance of these days. On this occasion students motivated the audience to save the environment by presenting a skit on the topic of environmental pollution.

5 different technical competitive events were organized on the day named Coding Maestro, Debuggers, Model Making, Paper Presentation and Fictitious Minds. A total of 105 students of different branches of Engineering College participated in these events.

Dr. Jasbir S. Hundal, Director –Principal, Baba Farid College of Engineering & Technology, while delivering vote of thanks said that industrial and infrastructural growth is needed for development of any country but technology used has to be sustainable and environmental friendly. He thanked Er. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Bathinda for gracing the occasion by sparing his valuable time and for sharing his views with the students. He also thanked Dr. Sardool Singh Grewal, Mr. Sukhdev Singh Pakka and Mr. Gurmeet Singh, for being amongst the engineering students on National Engineer’s Day. He congratulated the HOD, faculty and staff of Deptt. of CSE for organizing this function successfully.

Department of CSE & IT organized 2 day workshop on ETHICAL HACKING

Baba Farid College of Engg. & Technology, organized a 2 day workshop on the topic of "Ethical Hacking" on 10-11 September 2010. More than 70 students of BFCET and other neighbouring Engg institutions attended the workshop. Ms. Sukhpreet Kaur, Head Deptt. of CSE, inaugurated the workshop and informed students about the significance of the workshop. The workshop was organized with the coordination of Morph Edutech, an organization made up of former IITians , which routinely organizes different types of workshops, seminars and summer camps on advanced topics related to various engineering topics like robotics, hacking, nanotechnology etc in some select institutes. Network security is a burning issue and the students must be aware of the ways to safely use the internet for the communication, moreover this area has great potential for jobs in IT sector because of the growing use of internet and intranet by high profile institutions, universities, banks and all corporate sector , said, Dr. Jasbir S. Hundal, Director Principal, Baba Farid College of Engg. & Technology, while expressing his views on the workshop. He promised the students that workshops of this kind will also be organized in future to introduce them to the latest technologies of the different engineering fields. Mr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Managing director, Baba Farid Group of Institutions, while expressing his satisfaction on the conduct of the workshop said that knowledge of latest trends of the market is a must for the students to survive in this competitive world. These kind of workshops and seminars familiarize the students with new technologies. He ensured that Baba Farid Group of Institutions will continue to conduct these type activities that enrich the personality of students and faculty alike. Er Gurveen Kaur, Head Deptt of IT delivered vote of thanks on the occasion and thanked Mr. Girdhar and college management for their whole hearted support in the conduct of the workshop.

Department of CSE & IT organized workshop on LINUX

Baba Farid College of Engg. & Technology, organized a 2 day workshop on "LINUX" on 21-22 September 2010. Students of CSE & IT dept of BFCET attended the workshop. Ms. Sukhpreet Kaur, Head Deptt. of CSE & Ms. Gurveen K. Sandhu, Head Deptt. IT organized the workshop and informed students about the importance of workshop. This workshop becomes a success with combined effort of HCL people. Mr. Karan provided his valuable knowledge to the student. LINUX is the latest technology in the world of Computer. Dr. Jasbir S. Hundal, Director Principal, Baba Farid College of Engg. & Technology, while expressing his views on the workshop said that it is the efficient effort for enlightening the students with the modern technology. He promised the students that workshops of this kind will also be organized in future to introduce them to the latest technologies of the different engineering fields.

Forum for Advancement of Computer Engineering Students (FACES)

Forum for Advancement of Computer Engineering Students (FACES-The Identity) is a professional body of B-Tech (Computer Science Engineering) first year to final year students. The forum aims at advancement in computer technology and provide students with upgraded knowledge in the field of computer. This also motivates students to learn team work spirit which is essentially required at industrial level. Task and activities to be performed by student of CSE with coordinator to other departmental students. Various activities such as seminars, Paper presentably Programming Enhancement workshops and other celebrations would be organized by the forum.
