Baba Farid Group of Institutions Collaborates with HCL
Baba Farid Group of Institutions is a committed enterprise serving the cause of education and facets related to it. The management and faculty of the Group have been endlessly staining to leave no stone unturned for making its students best in the world. Baba Farid Group of Institutions realized early this year there is a wide gap between education and employment. So the year 2010 was dedicated to placements and a sum of Rs. 1 Crore has been allocated for the same. Moving one step further in this direction Baba Farid Group of Institutions has joined hands with HCL, one of the leading computer manufacturing industries for for Professional training to take the cause of employability further. At HCL K2 Academy the students will be given training on contemporary technologies, projects, and industry exposure through principal workshops by Microsoft, Oracle and Red hat and an opportunity of internship at HCL & other associate companies. This collaboration is one of its kinds in the Malwa Region and will be exclusive in the region. Qualifying students at the end of curriculum will be awarded a certificate and performance based placement assistance. For eminent dignitaries from noted Universities Prof. Manjit Singh, Registrar, PunjabI University, Patiala was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Dr. A.P. Singh, Dean Students Welfare, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar presided over the function. A team from HCL which included Mr. R. Sugant, National Sales Manager, Mr. Ashish Trivedi, Regional Manager-Institutions Alliance, Mr. Kamal Arora, Academic Consultant-Institutional Alliance and Mr. Rajan Malhotra, Consultant CIG Project was also present.
Mr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Managing Director, Baba Farid Group of Institutions welcomed the guests and said that this collaboration os one of its kind in Punjab and would certainly boost young talent in the region. He talked about the gulf between education and employability and stressed on the need of bridging it. Mr. Dhaliwal further detailed that the Group’s joining hands with HCL would be a landmark in the education sector. Apart from this he also said that Baba Farid Group of Institutions is coming up with new and diversified opportunities for the young scholars where in they can opt for multiple part time jobs and lessen the burden of their parents.
Mr. R. Sugant, National Sales Manager, HCL detailed the audience about the 34 years long standing of the HCL Corporation with its diverse roles in the fields of Computer Manufacturing, Defence, Railways, e-governance etc. and with a turnover of Rs. 25 Thousand Crore per annum. The network of HCL runs a cross the verticals of 23 countries. He said that the alliance that has been established is the first and probably the only alliance the company would create in the area. He further told about the reasons for which HCL had chosen Baba Farid Group of Institutions for their HCL K2 Academy. Praising the institute he said that, "I am highly impressed by the infrastructure, education policy, faculty and students of Baba Farid Group of Institutions. What I got fascinated at was the website of BFGI which I feel is unique and intelligently administered." He said that HCL K2 Academy will give professional training to the students and acquaint them with contemporary technologies, projects and give them industry exposure. Mr. Ashish Trivedi, Regional Manager-Institutions Alliance, HCL showed the students two motivational videos which inspired them to work for their excellence. He motivated the students to join the HCL K2 Academy to get career and soft skill training, project guidance, training on various technologies etc. by HCL experts.
Prof. A.P. Singh, Dean Students Welfare, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar congratulated Baba Farid Group of Institutions at the alliance with HCL and said that PTU has constantly been monitoring the efforts done by the Group for improving the quality of its students. He also suggested that all the educational institutions should go in for such collaboration with MNCs so that the students get to know the situation they will face as soon as the complete their degrees.
