Engineering Chemistry
The Engineering Chemistry Laboratory has been designed specifically for engineering students to provide them with a basic understanding of the chemistry that may be required by engineers in the course of their careers. The space is well equipped for physical, chemical and biological experimentation as well engineering testing of process on a pilot plant scale. This laboratory provides facilities for polymers, |
fuel combustion, analysis of effluents, lubricants, instrumental, chromatography, synthesis & miscellaneous experiments and water treatment process related to applied sciences practicals. The laboratory is equipped with Redwood Viscometer No.1&No.2, Flash Point Martin Apparatus, Colorimeters, pH Meters, Conductivity Meters, BOD Incubator, COD Incubator, Reflux Apparatus, Muffle Furnace, Pensky-Marten’s closed Cup Apparatus, Aniline Point Apparatus, Spectrophotometer, Stalagmometer with practically of variety of methods. Various experiments cover the analysis of fuels & lubricants (ash analysis, flash & fire point, aniline point, viscosity, iodine value, acid value). Instrumental analysis (?max, surface tension, concentration of a solution by various instruments), analysis of water (hardness, BOD, COD, turbidity, residual chlorine) and synthesis & miscellaneous experiments (synthesis of polymers, dyes, aspirin, and complexes). For the advanced study of water system, chemistry laboratory has water analysis kit. The chemistry laboratory recognizes the power of modern instrumentation in dealing with the problems fundamental to the study of environment both in the academic and industrial setting. Today any student without having proper training in and access to modern instrumentation is at a decided disadvantage. The labs possess a wide range of equipments for use by its students in laboratory courses and research projects. Main aim of the lab is to build students ability to cope up with developing technologies and problems solving ability, so that they could become good scientist and engineers and achieve success in life.
